I have been a Chouteau Township citizen for 13 years. I am currently employed by Madison County and have been for the past 12 years. Currently I am the Chouteau Township Tax Assessor and have been since 2006. I am also a member of the Township Officials of Illinois and have received my CIAO, Certified Illinois Assessing Official Designation from the Illinois Property Assessment Institute.

We would like to inform all of you about the changes that have taken place in Property Tax. The General Homestead Exemption which is the Owner Occupied exemption will increase from $ 5,000 to $ 6,000 in 2009. The Senior Citizen Homestead has increased from $ 3,500 to $ 4,000. There is a new income limit for the Senior Assessment Freeze, it is $ 55,000. We are now offering exemptions for Disabled Persons, Disabled Veterans and Returning Veterans. We also assist in filling out Circuit Breaker Applications and offer Notary services. You can inquire about all of this information through our office.
